Have you seen the “Sleep, Good Grades, Social Life” triangle? This is a haunting and reoccurring theme during the school year but don’t fret, I have compiled a list of ways I destress during these busy times of the year. I hope you find these tips helpful.
#Pen and Paper: the first and most important tip is to make a game plan. This includes a to-do list of all the tasks you have to do for the week. Instead of keeping tabs in your head, all your chores are now right in front of you.
#Have a routine: I have worked out a routine for myself that allows me get out the door faster and get started with the day. Find what works for you and stick to it as the actions will soon become habitual and you will save time in the end.
#Prioritize: This next step is quite important– prioritize. Tasks that are more deserving of your attention may need to be completed first. I use the Reminder app on my phone to keep myself on track about important deadlines.
#Easy and fun: When you have a lot on your plate, start shuffling through your to-do list by doing chores that are easiest or most enjoyable first. In no time, you will be checking off those items and moving onto the more demanding tasks.
#Break time: This is my personal favourite– naps. Naps are not given enough credit when there is coffee. Next time you are feeling drowsy, take a nap. I guarantee that after 20-30 minutes, you will feel brand new and ready to work.
#Treat yourself: After a long, stressful day, treat yourself to a nice at home spa session. For me this involves a 15 min beauty routine consisting of applying a soothing face mask, cleansing my face, and perhaps doing my nails. You deserve the 5 star treatment.
