Yet another Marvel Success

I wish I could hate a Marvel movie; for no reason other than the fact that I don’t like loving every movie they’ve created thus far. Unfortunately for me, Ant-Man was impossible to dislike.

The movie was hilarious, mostly coherent and it had Paul Rudd. I cannot stress enough that IMHO Paul Rudd is a comedic genius. He brought Ant-Man to life and laid to rest all the previous susurration that a non-muscular funny man couldn’t possibly play a superhero.characters_1-scott

Superhero movies usually show the transformation of a skinny boy/man/woman transforming into a bulked up macho person that saves everyone while cracking a few jokes. What I loved about Ant-man is that it spun that stereotype on its head. On top of delivering more than a few wise quips, it contains an average sized man who learns some sexy fight moves from a woman (Evangeline Lilly), and then transforms into a tiny ant sized man who packs quite a punch and saves the day.

LT Ratings: Overall rating: 8.5/10 | Comedy: 9.5/10 | Adventure: 8/10| CGI: 10/10 | Must watch/ Average/ Pass: Must Watch

The rest of the actors were believable and mostly funny. Evangeline Lilly is a fantastic actress and handled her role with skill. She was pretty bad-ass and left me wishing she was allowed to don the suit at some point in the movie (just an idea Marvel!).

Overall, Ant-man was a great movie that left me laughing out loud more times than I can count and yes, I will unapologetically be watching it again in theatres.

Ant-Man was better than I expected it to be. Leading up to its release I didn’t know a whole lot about it, but I ended up getting dragged along by an excited co-worker and I’m glad I did. The movie was great starting point for a new character, and I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
