My younger sister and I have been doing some summer cleaning when we found a box filled with her childhood reads in the attic. Our family tends to hoard items hoping that one day they will be given a second chance in our household. This time around instead of letting our books continue aging and fall victim to dust, we decided to donate them.
We stumbled upon a website which has given us some enlightening suggestions for places to donate. Here is our take on the options we found in Toronto.
- Public Library— letting your community enjoy your old books for free
- “Textbooks for Change”— donating your school books to Africa
- “The Children’s Book Bank”— donating books to low income families locally
- “Canadian Hero Fund”— donate books to help support the families of fallen soldiers
Here is the link to the site we were inspired by: “Money Crashers”
We’re hoping your books will be finding their way onto new bookshelves.
