My taste in movies is actually quite simple; there are just four criteria it must fall into. It can make me laugh, cry, inspire me, or leave me without nightmares. In other words, I prefer comedies and romcoms over horror and thrillers any time of the year. This weekend was no exception as I got a chance to watch “Spy.”
I guarantee that you will leave the theater with rock hard abs because you will be laughing continuously. Now this movie surprised me because a lot of the puns and jokes were not your typical passing gas type of humor. It was very sarcastic and sassy, also quite unexpected with a major plot twist half way through the movie.
Melissa McCarthy is as gorgeous and hilarious as ever and 50 Cent makes a grand appearance too. Have we connvinced you yet?
The fighting was pretty gruesome and the sound effects accompanying all the stunts made me shriek and look away in disgust. But I must admit that it looked very realistic and believable or I just have low tolerance for gore.
LT Ratings: Overall rating: 8/10 | Tear Dropper: 2/10 | Comedy: 9/10 | Action: 6/10 | Crime: 7/10 | Must watch/ Average/ Pass: Must watch
I must warn you that this movie uses profane language which doesn’t make it very child friendly yet still hilarious with all the different characters’ accents, timing, and all the funny variations.
Overall, the movie puts you in a wonderful mood for the rest of your evening. You don’t have to worry about walking out red eyed with tears like you may have after the “Titanic” or down about your relationship like you may have after “The Fault in Our Stars”, or even addicted like you may have after “Frozen”. This is a light weight film and a good remedy for a hectic week.
